Aktivitas Antibakteri Infusa Akar Bajakah (Spatholobus Littoralis Hassk) Terhadap Pertumbuhan Bakteri Staphylococcus aureus

Penyakit infeksi seperti infeksi kulit, infeksi saluran pernafasan, dan infeksi saluran pencernaan merupakan penyakit yang disebabkan oleh mikroba patogen seperti Staphylococcus aureus. Pengobatan penyakit infeksi adalah pemberian antibiotika dan juga dapat memanfaatkan tanaman untuk pengobatan alternatif. Salah satunya yang dapat dimanfaatkan untuk mengatasi penyakit infeksi adalah akar Bajakah (Spatholobus littoralis Hassk) yang memiliki khasiat obat dan telah digunakan dalam pengobatan tradisional. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui potensi akar bajakah dalam menghambat pertumbuhan bakteri Staphylococcus aureus. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah uji aktivitas antibakteri infusa akar bajakah metode dilusi melalui penentuan Kadar Hambat Minimum (KHM) dan Kadar Bunuh Minimum (KBM). Infusa akar bajakah dibuat dengan konsentrasi 10 g/100 ml, 5 g/100 ml, 2,5 g/100 ml, 1,25 g/100 ml, 0,625 g/100 ml, 0,3125 g/100 ml, 0,15625 g/100 ml. Penelitian menunjukkan bahwa uji KHM infusa akar bajakah pada berbagai konsentrasi menunjukkan kekeruhan yang disebabkan oleh pekatnya warna infusa sehingga diperlukan pemeriksaan tambahan dari suspensi menggunakan Pewarnaan Gram. Hasil pewarnaan Gram menunjukkan bahwa infusa pada konsentrasi 10; 5; 2,5 dan 1,25 g/100 ml tidak menunjukkanadanya bakteri. Sedangkan pada konsentrasi infusa 0,625; 0,3125 dan 0,1625 g/100 ml terdapat bakteri yang tumbuh. Hal ini menunjukkan bahwa KHM infusa akar bajakah adalah 1,25 g/100 ml. Penentuan KBM dilakukan terhadap konsentrasi 10; 5; 2,5 dan 1,25 g/100 ml akan tetapi menunjukkan terbentuknya koloni bakteri pada media padat sehingga tidak dapat ditentukan. Kesimpulan dari penelitian ini adalah infusa akar bajakah memiliki aktifitas untuk menghambat pertumbuhan bakteri Staphylococcus aureus.
